    soon... hopefully very soon

With the accolades I have given Super Dweeb on his musical abilities, I have had a few people ask if I can provide a sampling of it.  For 22 years I have asked this man repeatedly to make me first a cassette, then a CD (as times change) of my favorite songs.  I've yet to see it.  But now he is getting serious....  finally!  So far he is refusing to rent some time at a recording studio.  But.. his birthday is next month and Father's Day is coming up, so we are looking into and watching studios to purchase so he can do it here (comfort is everything) on the now infamous Ebay.  I don't know how soon it will happen with Blondie deciding last minute to go to summer school, tuition jumping AGAIN for fall, house needs to be painted, windows need to be replaced, driveway needs repair, shower needs to be retiled, deck needs post work before it falls completely to the ground, and the neighbors turn us in AGAIN for the slum neighbors in the upscale place.  (if the lake wasn't in my back yard and this house wasn't going to paid off soon, I'd be outta here!)

I WILL get him recorded if I have to go through a friend of his to kidnap him and force him into a recording studio.

Stay tuned..  Last night, he was welcomed (so to speak) into the circle of muscians in the metro area and want him to start hangin' with them for mic nights and jam sessions.  Not just anyone is asked to these affairs.

I won't bore you anymore with this for now.  I just love this guy so much (go figure).  Now I'm  off to search CD's for something a little more up beat for him to learn to play.

    Rockin' the house!

Woot Woot!  Super Dweeb had the joint rockin' tonight!

Super Dweeb decided it's time to get back out in the public with his music.  We have been casing out joints and open mic nights lately.  He played in public (not just a party) at a popular bar and grill on Sunday night.  He was so nervous.  His voice was a bit quivery (is that a word?) and playing was a bit stiff for the first couple of songs.  The place was packed and it was a bit intimidating.  But by the last two songs, he had relaxed some and sounded pretty good.  Whew!  Got that first one out of the way finally!

The last time he had done this was twenty some years ago when he lived in NYC and he sang at a place in the Village.  I thought he did well  on Sunday for a perfectionist.

Tonight was a different venue.  A bar-b-que place that was smaller.  The crowd there was so friendly.  That helps the nerves.  When it came time for the Dweeb to play he got up there and belted out two James Taylor songs, Simon and Garfunkel song, and one Jethro Tull song.  It turned into a bit of a sing-a-long.  Most people stopped what they were doing when my Dweeb began and cheered him on.  I know he still wasn't all there, still a bit nervous, but definitely getting there.  They were telling him to be sure and come back every Thursday.

I'm so proud of my Dweeb.  I know what a talent he is. He has been singing and playing for me for over 22 years.  I want everyone to enjoy it, because he is that good.

Tomorrow night....  another open mic night!  Maybe soon he will have his own paying gig at a few places.  Wouldn't that just be the cat's meow.  (sh*t, that dated me, huh?)

    NEW ARRIVAL!

Super Dweebs new baby arrived today!  You know, the baby he got that forced me to put him in 'time out' for last week?  Well, he's at work all day today so I HAD to open this package up and see if it's really as ...ummm... pretty? as the picture.  Let's just say I didn't puke all over it, which is good.  That would not make Super Dweeb happy at all.  I considered (only for a moment) slinging this thing off the deck and into the lake to put it out of it's misery, but there was a tracking number on the package and Super Dweeb would find out.  So I put the new baby on his stand to get a good look at her.

I was afraid the look on my face may have given away just how 'not pretty' this guitar is and was concerned the new baby would suffer from low self esteem, which we cannot have.  So I took her downstairs and introduced her to some of her new family.  I decided the introductions should be a gradual thing so as not to overwhelm her, so she was to meet only her fellow electric guitars for now.  The acoustics and other instruments can meet her later when she feels more comfortable and not so self conscious (for obvious reasons).  Well, you know pianos!  The egos they have!  They just have to stick their keys in everyones business and ended up in the pictures too.  I hope they go easy on the poor girl.  But just in case the piano gets any ideas, I separated her from the guitars.  The new guitar kind of sticks out like a sore thumb right now, but hopefully will blend right in the rest soon.

We'll see what Super Dweeb has to say about his new toy when he gets home.

    TGIF!

It's Friday night.  Drama Queen is gone for the night *whew*.  Mominator is ready for some fun.  So, with some reluctance Super Dweeb has been let out of 'time out'.  I know, I know.  The experts say 'stick to your guns' and 'consistency, consistency, consistency', but I have one night.  I want to go out.  So I am relenting.  I think he learned his lesson (until next the good deal shows up).

Tonight it's dinner out and a couple of bands to check out at a new coffehouse and one of my favorite little bars (you know, the ipod dancin' spot).  I just have to remember it's Friday... NO MEAT!  I seem to have a problem with that during Lent, so hopefully between now and the time I order my food I won't forget.

Have a great Friday night y'all, I'm outta here!

    You've Got Mail

Super Dweeb is in a bit of hot water today.  We have a standing daily date at approximately 1 pm.  If he is working, he calls me around that time.  That can be the highlight of my day.

Now today, I'm dealing with Drama Queen and the telephone rings.  It's Super Dweeb.  As I am talking to him, he seems to be in an awfully good mood.  This is unusual because usually the ER is packed and overflowing which obviously can be stressful.  He is being considerate asking me how things are going at home and if anyone is in trouble today.  I tell him it's just the usual crap today, but no biggie.  Under control right now.  We discuss for a moment the fact he will be out of town tonight for his administrative job and I get that schedule engraved in my brain.  Then...... "I'm in trouble", he says.  (this is not an unusual comment from him because he's a dweeb).  I assure him he's not in trouble today and all is fine.  He responds, "No, I'm in trouble".  He used that sing-song voice of his when he's done something and wants to make me happy.  Hmm...   I look at the clock and realize it is only 11:30 am.  What the...?   At this point, I do have to get off the phone so I tell him I'll talk to him a little later.

As I hang up the telephone, it dawns on me.  Shit!  Check our email.  Sure enough there it is.  Damn Ebay.  There in the little mailbox was a message "Item You've Won".  Crap.  He's done it again.

Now this man has enough amps, speakers, gadgets, mics, and instruments for an entire band and for this band to go on tour.  Problem is he has no band and has no tour.  He is a one man band that plays one party a year right now.  And he has to have another guitar.  My guy has upwards to 9 guitars alone now ranging from acoustic to electric to bass.  They are all very nice guitars, so he HAD to have this one just in case  he happens to get in a band or play somewhere on mic night.

I am a firm believer of the twelve step program for obvious reasons.  I have searched, albeit unsuccessfully, for a twelve step support group for ebay addicts.  Gals, if you're men have not discovered this web site then BEWARE.  It's dangerous!  The site is run on testosterone.  Every man I know who discovers this site is doomed.  He has been glued to this web site for several years now.  He's been sucked into the computer and I can't get him out.   I never know what strange instrument (such as the fretted electric violin that showed up in the mail a couple of weeks ago) he is going to come across.  Sometimes it's just too good a deal to pass up .

When I called him back (which was within a few short minutes), he sheepishly got on the phone and repeated, "I'm in trouble".   Heck, what can I say?  The man works is a** off to support us.  He has gotten into the local music scene, so it's acutally feasible he will be playing out there in public soon.  And he's lucky our daughter has been causing more grief lately than him buying a used electric guitar.  The color leaves something to be desired, but it was cheap.  Great, now I'm rationalizing this.

I'm going to have to ground him from the computer for a month or two since it's tax time.  Time out for Dad Man!

    The Lounge Lizard

I'm a lucky gal.  I have my own personal lounge lizard in residence.  I shout out my request and he gladly abides.  Super Dweeb is a muscian at heart.  He would much rather play music for a living than practice medicine.  Needless to say, the latter is what will pay the mortgage, college, and boy toys.  He plays many instruments.  The acoustic guitar is remarkable from a guy who has does this for fun since junior high.  James Taylor his forte.  He even sounds a bit like him.  He has been trying to improve his piano ability as of late which means I am fortunate to listen to Billy Joel piano bar music every evening.  New York State of Mind seems to be the song tonight.  He did recently purchase an electric violin off of the testosterone run Ebay site.  That is another story.  If any of you have had the pleasure of listening to someone in your home learn the violin, you know what I mean.  The screeching is not nearly as ear piercing on an electric violin as on a regular violin, but still.

He Googled his name one day for grins and he actually had one hit!  We were so excited we were jumping around the house.  It turns out someone (we still do not know who) put his junior high band on a website for bands in our area.  Hilarious I tell ya.  We pulled up the picture and there he was, playing lead guitar, and with a full head of hair!  Whoa!  Long time since we've seen that.  He doesn't get excited about much (motorcycles and music amps is about it), but this thrilled him.  The daughters got a kick out of it too.  Dad in junior high?  Was he really that young and THAT geeky?  Yep he was.  Hence his nickname.

He thought he wanted to be in a local band as of late.  We have been checking out a few local bands and he has auditioned for a few.  I believe he likes being his own 'One Man Band'.  Drum machine, guitar, flute (in a home made stand), and piano.  More control that way.

So, fortunately, I continue having my Lounge Lizard at my beck and call.  You all should be so lucky.
